- 'HHS senior spends vacation in Japan (Hartselle Enquirer)
Hartselle High School senior Amanda Elliott is spending seven weeks of her summer Vacation as a foreign exchange student in Akita, Japan. As one of 50 "Youth for Understanding" scholarship recipients, she left the country June 14 and will return in early August.

Old Bridge Baptist Church, 21 Kossman St., East Brunswick, will host a vacation Bible school from 6:30-8:45 p.m., July 9-13. Classes will be available for youngsters in kindergarten-sixth grade. This year's theme, "Avalanche Ranch," will feature a Western backdrop for Bible crafts, stories, snacks and music. Complimentary light refreshments will be served.
